Manual handling tasks are responsible for over 35% of compensation-able injuries within Australian workplaces.

This course equips participants with skills and knowledge to shift loads using manual handling methods, including planning, risk assessment and relocating the load according to the plan.

It includes compliance with safety legislation and basic principles of safe lifting. To develop control ideas, identify the source of the risk and then determine what things about the source of risk you could change. The main sources of risk are:

-work area design and layout

-nature, size, weight or number of things handled in performing the manual task

-systems of work

-environment in which the manual task is performed.

Throughout this unit students will learn workplace procedures for:

  • Planning lifting operations
  • Injury prevention

This unit involves the skills and knowledge required to shift loads safely using manual handling methods. Work must be carried out in compliance with the relevant work health and safety (WHS)/occupational health and safety (OHS) regulations concerning the manual handling and movement of loads. It includes assessing the risks associated with relocating the load, planning the relocation process and carrying out the relocation in accordance with the plan.

On successful completion students will receive a Statement of Attainment which is recognised under the Australian Qualifications Framework. This unit can lead on to a full qualification in either TLI31616 Certificate III Warehousing Operations or TLI32416 Certificate in Logistics.

Full payment must be received prior to course enrolment.

No refund or cancellation is available for online courses.

Discretion may be exercised by the Chief Executive Officer in all situations, if the student can demonstrate that extenuating or significant personal circumstance led to their withdrawal. In these cases, the student should be offered a full credit toward the tuition fee in another scheduled program in-lue of a refund. Chief Executive Officer may also authorise a refund of tuition fees if the circumstances require it.

Where refunds are approved, the refund payment must be paid to the student within 14 days from the time the student gave written notice to cancel their enrolment. Tuition refunds are to be paid via electronic funds transfer using the authorised bank account nominated by the student on the Refund Request Form.

If for any reason AQTI is unable to fulfil its service agreement with a student, AQTI must issue a full refund for any services not provided. The basis for determining “services not provided” is to be based on the units of competency completed by the student and which can be issued in a statement of attainment at the time the service is terminated.

AQTI takes the privacy of students very seriously and complies with all legislative requirements. These include the Privacy Act 1988 and National Privacy Principles (2008).
